Teaser Trailer has landed!

Director Akin Akinsiku once said to me on my podcast that opportunities come from the most unexpected places - and this was one such opportunity.

Still from the animated trailer, by +3k Animation

A year ago, a woman named Janett Walker got in touch with me asking if I would be involved in her organisation, Anti-Racist Cumbria.

We had a chat and out of the blue Janett mentioned that they were looking for a composer for their project Animated Futures, working with young Cumbrians on an animation about how it feels to be growing up “not white” in a rural and predominantly white county.

I was hooked, straight away. A huge part of me grieved that this organisation and their work wasn’t around when I was growing up. My sister and I felt isolated, too visible, and struggled to talk about it.

After a year of the young minds working with the fabulous Lou Kneith from +3k Animation Studios in Carlisle, I joined the group to talk about how the music might take inspiration from the work that the young people are doing.

Scoring this trailer is only the start of my part of the project. I’ll be spending the next two months working with the young people as my Directors, feeding back and scoring the final animated short film.

So far, 70 cinemas have signed up to show the final film during the previews.

To say that I’m proud of the work these young people, with +3k Animation and Anti-Racist Cumbria, have achieved is an understatement. I’m so grateful that I get to play even a small part in this project. This is what change looks like.

If you like what you hear and want to find out more about bringing music to your project, book a creativity call with me - let’s have a chat about what we can bring to life.
