What Is It To Surrender?
What does surrender mean to you?
How do you feel when you allow yourself to surrender?
To be clear, I don't mean give up.
But if you feel that you're fighting fires on all fronts, what does it mean to surrender?
Someone asked me this recently. What happens if you surrender?
My absolute dream in life is to make my living from composing. And the composing that I'm doing at the moment is giving me LIFE! It truly is.
However, it's not financially viable. I've struggled to keep it all going these last few months, especially with the industry as it is. I'm not the only composer struggling, but investing time and money into a chasm when you have children and chronic health challenges is something I can't keep doing.
So I've been exploring surrender.
What if the dream isn't possible just yet?
Someone said to me, 'just do music for music libraries. If you don't buy a ticket, you can't win the lottery!'
And that helped me realise that I don't want to lean into the exploitation game. I want my creativity to mean something and to help people.
How can I take all that I have learned and loved and continue in a slightly different iteration in order to survive financially and still contribute to the creative revolution? (And oh, what a revolution!).
I've decided to re-open my teaching - working with people who are either struggling with an artistic creative block, or who know that they are creative really, just struggle to access it.
One-hour creativity coaching sessions.
Up to 3x a month
The first three sessions you can choose to pay £50 / £60 / £70 (what you can afford), and any further sessions thereafter are at £80 per hour.
Bookable one at a time or in a block.
I want this to be accessible to creatives who may also be struggling like me.
